A normal installation of a X2 Wireless system contains sensors; eg. smoke alarms, water alarms, or perhaps climate sensors; a Gateway; and one or more people with the X2 App installed on their smartphone, tablet, or computer.

The sensors communicate wirelessly with the closest X2 Gateway that in turn connects to the X2 Wireless cloud service X2 Cloud. With the X2 App for Android, iOS or Windows you configure and monitor the sensors and their potential alarms.

Sensors need at least one Gateway within range, and more than one can be used if neccesary. Because of the large range of out Gateways, and because a singe Gateway can handle up to 10 000 sensors, more than one is rarely neccesary.
